I can’t believe I waited 6 months to try Medical Massage on my painful neck. After my first massage I slept without the stabbing pain in my neck every time I laid my head on my pillow! I can’t wait to see my massage therapist again next week!

Neck pain and spasms are one of the most common musculoskeletal issues that we work with in our clinic. Many times this pain comes along with a headache that is often associated with stressful periods in life. We typically see a sharp uptick in these types of pain during our local fire season, as a brown wall of unhealthy smoke descends upon the Rogue Valley from Ashland through Medford and beyond. These “cervicogenic headaches” are the most common type of headache in the population and are often misdiagnosed as migraines.
Once the cause of the symptoms is uncovered, then proper treatment can help to relieve the pain. Our Medical Massage Therapist will begin your session by reviewing your past medical history and then ask questions about your symptoms, including location and pattern of pain, what aggravates and relieves your neck pain, muscular spasm(s) and/or headache. A cervical (neck) Range of Motion Assessment will be performed, including the quality of movement of your neck, along with types and location of pain, pulling and limitations. This will help us to narrow down what muscles might be involved in your neck pain.
Long Term Neck Pain Relief through Patient Education & Empowerment
After your Therapist completes this Assessment, they will work together with you to resolve the causes of your pain with targeted manual therapy techniques that identify and relieve the muscles and potential nerve entrapments responsible. Your Therapist will work with you as a teammate and a coach, connecting you during and after the session to help you better understand the muscles involved, the causes of your pain, how you can continue your gains at home, and suggest appropriate stretches and exercises.
We work closely with a network of high quality & integrity health care providers such as MDs, DOs, Chiropractors and Physical Therapists to make sure that you not only receive relief from your current pain, but also the necessary alignment and strengthening to make sure that you have the right support and learn the right tools to stay out of pain for good!.
